Pinter, Harold

Pinter, Harold

Born 1930
Died 2008

Harold Pinter is without a doubt one of the most influential playwrights of British drama.  Significant moments in his life are outlined in all his works and his plays are considerably “connected to Pinter’s recollections of his own experience” (Billington, 2007:x).  Some of his most popular and influential plays include Betrayal and The Birthday Party

Not only was Pinter a playwright, but he also acted, wrote screenplays and directed.  His works covered a great number of themes such as feminism, power, sex and deceit.  He was well known for an ability to write in an 'everyday' tone, but with the use of beautiful poetic language.
